Mauritius is an island where the trip is the hotel. The lagoon-facing one, the protected-bay one, the south-west one with Le Morne behind it. Inland is a half-day for the Black River Gorges and a botanical morning at Pamplemousses. Six to eight nights on one or two hotels. Best between May and December for the dry season; the summer cyclones blow January to March.

on how we work.
Tibro has been routing Mauritius since 2019. Six years of stay-style trips at six properties across the four coasts, with the Mauritius-and-Maldives twin-island arcs that travellers ask for at honeymoons.
We work with two on-island coordinators. One Le Morne, one Belle Mare. And we hold rooms at four properties year-round.
Two routes is what we currently maintain. The Le Morne six-night is the most-requested; we route the hotel as a two-week-ahead decision because the room category on the lagoon side makes the trip.

Seven nights at one south-west hotel, lagoon-facing. The studio's hotel pick was the difference. The room category they booked us into looked straight at Le Morne at sunset every evening. The Black River half-day was the right break in the middle.

Belle Mare, eight nights, April 2024
Eight nights at a Belle Mare hotel with two children. The protected bay was the right call for the kids and the hotel kids' club was the kind that ran without us. Pamplemousses morning on day five was the surprise we did not know we wanted.
