Tibro

    Singapore,
    in a long weekend.

Fourteen journeys for travellers who came for the food court at midnight and the Gardens at dawn, not the queue at Universal at noon.

Preface, on the country that runs on the long weekend

Singapore is the rare country that does not ask you to choose. The food court at midnight, the orchid garden at six in the morning, a cocktail bar above the city by ten. All of it within the same forty-five minutes by taxi. Pack lightly and stay four nights, not three. The country is small enough that you cannot exhaust it; it is detailed enough that you cannot quite see all of it either.

    A small note
    on how we work.

Tibro has been routing Singapore since 2012. Thirteen years of long weekends, family resort trips at Sentosa, and the Singapore-as-cruise-port itineraries that go on to Malaysia, Thailand, or Vietnam.

We work with a Singapore-based partner desk run by Aishwarya (originally with the Marina Bay Sands concierge) and a separate cruise coordinator who handles the Royal Caribbean and Genting Dream embarkations every Sunday morning at the Marina Bay Cruise Centre.

Hotels in Singapore are a different problem to most countries. Almost all are excellent, but the right hotel matters more than usual because the city is so easy to walk that location swings the whole trip. We will tell you which side of Marina Bay actually suits you.

Fourteen routes is what we offer. Adding a fifteenth requires Aishwarya to have personally stayed in the hotel within the past twelve months, and to have walked from it to the nearest MRT at peak hour to time it honestly.

Singapore with the children, five nights, December 2024

Two children, eight and eleven. The studio had us at a Marina Bay hotel with a pool floor the children would not get out of, plus a Universal Studios day, a Bird Paradise morning, and a hawker-centre dinner with a Singaporean food writer who walked our kids through which stall to try in what order. We left wanting to come back next December.

Singapore-Malaysia twin city, seven nights, March 2024

Three nights of Singapore (Marina Bay), one of Kuala Lumpur (Petronas at sunset, dinner at Atmosphere 360), three at Langkawi (a beach resort we would never have found alone). The handover between Singapore and KL was a half-day drive that Tibro arranged with the right driver. A man who has been doing this run for twenty years and stopped us at exactly the right roadside stall.

Singapore Royal Caribbean cruise, five nights, October 2024

Two pre-cruise nights in Singapore at a hotel two stops on the MRT from the Cruise Centre. Tibro had the embarkation paperwork sorted before we arrived; we walked onto the ship in fifteen minutes. The post-cruise night the studio put us at a Tiong Bahru boutique hotel. The perfect counterweight after five nights of buffet.

    Tell us how many
nights, and the kind of trip.

Two questions decide a Singapore trip: which anchor, and how many nights. Aishwarya in Singapore will write back inside the working day with hotels held on a tentative.

    . write back.
