    Sweden is a country shaped by water. Stockholm sits across fourteen islands and the rest of the country is harbour, lake, or archipelago. We treat it as part of every Nordic trip rather than a standalone destination; the studio's six journeys all pair Sweden with at least one other capital. Three Stockholm nights minimum; ten across all four nordic capitals begins to do the region justice. Best between mid-May and mid-September; December for the Lucia weekend.

    A small note
    on how we work.

    Tibro has been routing Sweden since 2016. Nine years of Stockholm bases, Helsinki ferry crossings, archipelago weekend chapters, and the four-capital Scandinavian arcs the studio writes every spring.

    We work with a Stockholm-based partner desk run by Annika (originally a Skansen open-air museum curator) and a separate Nordic ferry coordinator who handles the Silja Line and Viking Line overnight crossings to Helsinki. Small detail, but the difference between a good Nordic trip and a great one.

    Hotels in Stockholm are a Gamla-Stan-or-not problem. The old-town traditionals for the first time, the Östermalm boutiques for the second, an archipelago island lodge for the third. We hold rooms at five properties year-round.

    Six routes is what we currently maintain. The four-capital Scandinavian ten-night loop is the most-requested; we route Stockholm in the middle (third anchor of four) because the Helsinki overnight ferry works best as the back-half pivot.

    Two Helsinki nights, the overnight Silja Line, three Stockholm. The ferry crossing was the trip in itself. Annika at the Stockholm desk had us in a cabin facing east so we woke into the Stockholm archipelago at five-thirty in the morning. The studio's Skansen open-air morning in Stockholm was a surprise we did not ask for and now tell every friend about.

    Four capitals in ten nights felt right because the studio routed the ferry and rail timings as rest, not work. The Stockholm middle three days the studio gave us were a quiet centre. Vasa morning, archipelago ferry, Stadshuset evening. Came home wanting Sweden longer next time.
