Plate I01
The canyon, lit warm from the south.
South Rim, four PM
The American West is a country built around the freeway. San Francisco at one end, Las Vegas at the other, the Grand Canyon between them. The trip is the drive, and the drive is the country. Five hours from Hoover Dam to the South Rim and you have already seen more America than three days in Manhattan would give you. Eight Tibro routes for the West Coast; East Coast and Hawaii are on the request shelf.

Tibro has been routing the American West since 2017. Eight years of San Francisco fog, Vegas-strip nights, and Grand Canyon helicopter mornings. We stay focused on the West Coast; the East Coast and Hawaii are on the request shelf and we will list them once the studio has personally driven them.
We work with a Los Angeles-based partner DMC who covers the SF-LV-LA triangle and a separate Arizona ground-operator for the Canyon helicopter slots, which sell out six months ahead.
Hotels in the US are a chain problem. The obvious brands are uniform, the smaller boutique properties are where the trip changes character. We will tell you which Vegas suite floor actually has the strip view, and which SF hotel walks to a good coffee.
Eight routes is what we currently maintain. The Pacific Coast Highway drive between SF and LA is the one we are most opinionated about. It adds two nights but it is the trip.

Three letters from the last fourteen months.
SF for three, Vegas for three, LA for three. The drives in between were the surprise. The studio had us in a convertible and Pacific Coast Highway on day six was the trip's quiet centre. The Grand Canyon helicopter slot the studio booked six months ahead was the one we would not have got ourselves.
The studio insisted on a south-rim sunrise on day three. Five-thirty AM, a forty-minute drive from the hotel, the canyon entirely empty. Best three hours of our travelling lives. Vegas the rest of the time with a strip-view suite and a private Cirque du Soleil booking.
Seven SF days felt long when we booked it; the studio packed them with Napa, Monterey, a private redwood walk in Muir Woods, and an Alcatraz evening tour we did not know existed. The hotel was on Nob Hill, which the studio chose because of the morning light on the bay. Everything timed; nothing missed.
Two questions decide a US West-Coast trip: which gateway city, and which loop. Our LA partner will write back inside the working day with hotels held on a tentative.
