Preface, on a small country at the centre of Europe

Czechia is, geographically, the centre of the continent. And Prague is, by a quiet margin, the most-photographed city in Eastern Europe. Three days for the city is the right length, and almost every trip pairs Prague with Vienna and Budapest in the Habsburg sweep. Three nights for the city; seven to fifteen if you arc through the empire. Best between mid-April and June, or September into October.

    A small note
    on how we work.

Tibro has been routing Czechia since 2014. Eleven years of Prague short-stays, Habsburg sweeps, and the Eastern-Europe arcs that bookend Prague at the front or the middle.

We work with a Prague-based partner desk run by Jakub (originally a Klementinum manuscript researcher) and a separate Eastern-Europe rail coordinator out of Vienna who handles the Prague-Vienna-Budapest Railjet sequencing and the longer Greek-and-Nordic arcs.

Hotels in Prague are an Old-Town-or-Malá-Strana problem. The Old Town traditionals for the first time, the Lesser Town boutiques for the second. We hold rooms at three properties year-round and pick by season.

Five routes is what we currently maintain. The Eastern Europe Prague-Vienna-Budapest seven-night is the most-requested; we route Prague first because the Railjet south to Vienna runs through the Bohemian countryside on its prettiest afternoon.

Prague Escape, three nights, May 2024

Three nights felt like the right length for the city. Jakub at the Prague desk had us inside the Klementinum library on day one at half past nine, before the public tour. An hour we will not forget. Charles Bridge at six in the morning on day two was the studio's idea and it was correct. We came home wanting to come back, which is the test.

Eastern Europe Prague-Vienna-Budapest, seven nights, September 2024

Three cities in seven nights, and the Railjet between Prague and Vienna was the studio's choice. The Czech countryside out the window for two hours was a quiet afternoon we did not plan for. Three Prague nights felt right; the second night the studio routed a Vltava evening boat that was the trip's small luxury.

Eastern Europe with Greece & Copenhagen, fifteen nights, June 2024

Athens, Budapest, Vienna, Prague, Copenhagen. Fifteen nights, five capitals, one coordinator. The Prague middle three nights were the city we did not want to leave. The studio's reasoning that Prague should be the centrepiece of the arc was correct. Came back already planning to come back.

    Tell us how many
    cities, and which season.

Two questions decide a Czechia trip: how many cities (one, three, or five), and which window. Spring lilacs or December market. Jakub in Prague writes back inside the working day with hotels held on a tentative.
