Austria is a small country with the cultural footprint of an empire. Vienna is the obvious centre and we don't pretend otherwise. Three days walks you from the Hofburg to the Belvedere to the State Opera, with a Sachertorte in between. Three days for the city, two for Salzburg, the rest for the Tyrol or the Habsburg sweep. Best between May and early October; December gets a separate, smaller window for the Christmas markets.

A small note
on how we work.
Tibro has been routing Austria since 2015. Ten years of Vienna bases, Salzburg music city days, Hallstatt afternoons, and the Habsburg arcs east into Prague and Budapest.
We work with a Vienna-based partner desk run by Klaus (originally a Musikverein staff archivist) and a separate Salzburg coordinator who has worked the Sound-of-Music day-trip route for twelve seasons and writes us notes on which weather days are worth running it.
Hotels in Vienna are an Inner-Stadt-or-not problem. The Ringstrasse traditionals for the first time, the Naschmarkt boutiques for the second. We hold rooms at four properties year-round and pick by traveller.
Six routes is what we currently maintain. The Prague-Vienna-Budapest seven-night sweep is the most-requested; we route Vienna in the middle (not first, not last) because that's how the rail timings sit.

Amazing Austria, seven nights, June 2024
Klaus at the Vienna desk had us inside the Musikverein for a Friday matinee, then routed us through the back of the Hofburg to a Spanische Hofreitschule morning we had not asked for and would not have known about. Three Vienna nights, two Salzburg, two back in Vienna for the Belvedere. The studio's small touches kept showing up at the right moment.

Eastern Europe Prague-Vienna-Budapest, seven nights, September 2024
Three cities in seven nights sounds tight but the studio routed the rail journeys to be the rest, not the work. First-class Railjet, big windows, two hours of Czech countryside between Prague and Vienna. Vienna in the middle was the studio's call and we are not sure why it mattered, but it did. The trip felt longer than it was, in the way the best trips do.

Eastern Europe with Santorini, fourteen nights, May 2024
Athens, Mykonos, Santorini, then up to Budapest, Vienna, Prague. Fourteen nights, six cities, one coordinator. The studio's note on day eight. That we should plan for a quiet third day in Vienna and not try to do the Belvedere. Was correct in a way only experience gives. The transitions were invisible. We came back tired but in a good way.
